Breast Lift

Over the years, gravity takes its toll on the body, causing areas such as the chest to sag. As breasts seem to pull down farther and farther, many women consider a breast lift to restore a more youthful form.

Who Needs It

Most commonly, breast lift patients are either mothers who feel childbirth has taken a toll on their chest, or women in their 40s or 50s who feel gravity has caused breasts to fall.

Preparation

You should discuss your medical history in detail with your surgeon and what you hope to accomplish through surgery. In some cases, your surgeon may recommend a breast augmentation to accompany the lift in order to achieve the results you want.

The Surgery

A breast lift is usually done under general anesthesia. An anchor shaped incision is made across the lower portion of the breast. The nipple is pulled under the skin, and a new button hole is created for it to fit through. Excess skin is removed, and the skin is sutured back into place.

Scarring on the bottom side of the breast fade over time, but some scarring is permanent.

Results

Most women are pleased with the result of a breast lift. The procedure causes the breasts to rest higher on the chest, even without the support of a bra, in a very natural-looking way.
